English Spanish Scientific Name
Waved Albatross Albatros Diomedea irrorata

This endemic waved albatross, is one of the largest birds that lives in the Galapagos.  Like other birds in the Galapagos, the albatross had an interesting courtship which includes bill clicking, a specific dance and a courtship call.  There are approximately 12,000 pairs that breed in Espanola Island.  They fly to the continent until March, and let it be told that they seem to be excellent in flight but their take-off is a little more difficult.  When visiting Espanola you can visit the 'Albatross Airport' which is a large cliff.  The take a running start in hopes they will take-off.
