| English | Spanish | Scientific Name |
| Blue Footed Booby | Piquero de pata azul | Sula nebouxii excisa |
Either being a piquero or 'lancer' or 'bobo' which is clown in English, this bird is always looked for by all tourists when they arrive in the Galapagos. Though nobody really knows why they have blue feet, they are displayed during courtship while their wings are spread. This booby is like other birds in the Galapagos in that it has an interesting courtship.
These seabirds can be found nesting on Espanola, or Daphne Major. They hatch between 1 to 3 eggs at a time and normally only one survives because the other sibling is stronger and is fed more. An amazing sight to see is at the Baltra Channel during eating time and there are 40 to 50 blue footed boobies circling over head and all dive at one time. Boobies can dive up to 15 meters.
