
In the Galapagos there are 13 finch species which include; ground finch, tree finch, vegetarian finch, cactus finch and mangrove finch. Each finch looking different in size, color and beak size depending on what they eat. The history of Darwin's evolution theory started because of these small land birds. The ground finch in this picture is known to eat parasites of the backs of tortoises and iguanas. The largest of the finches is the vegetarian finch which can grow to be 16 cm.
