Michael H. Jackson, Galapagos A Natural History, states: Standing only 35 cm tall, it is the third smallest of the eighteen species in the penguin family and the only species to occur north of the equator and nest entirely within the tropics. These endemic penguins are a sight to see, especially when snorkeling. They are fast and fun to see in the water. You might see these flightless birds in Fernandina, Isabela, Santiago or Bartolome Island.
