Lonesome George, in the water on the left, is the last of his species from Pinta Island.  The new news is park guards found eggs from both females with George.  We are all still waiting to see if one of the eggs is fertile.  George was found in 1971 and they have not found a partner for him from the closest species, and have looked in zoos around the world.  George is a saddleback tortoise.  Some think that the reason he may not be responding to females has almost become a joke, he's not interested in women, he's too young, he likes being a bachelor and the list goes on.  Note the difference between his shell and the shell of the dome-shaped tortoise.
